Hello from London! Made it here safe and sound; definitely a bit of a hassle in a way mainly b/c a bunch of the tube stations were on strike today, but it was definitely a good way to be resourceful and practice asking people for help. Lots more news and stories to come; hope you're well!

BTW, forgot to say in my PM, thanks for posting the article about Roli's mental calmness (?). Despite his aggressive and feisty on-ice personality, he's always seemed to me like a pretty mellow guy off it, so maybe that helps him off the ice too.

I'm so happy for Roli and the season he's having so far! Hopefully he's making Oil management regret their decisions about him, although it sounds like Tambi is pretty high on Khabbi. Oh well, he doesn't need them anyways.

Benny still hasn't come home, after almost a month now, so that's been discouraging. There's a pretty good chance that he's just gone back to his "wild cat" lifestyle, so I'm trying not to worry about him too much; as long as he's safe and happy that's all that matters. I'm probably going to be getting a kitten when I get back from Europe...less than 6 weeks

Hey, did you see Roli's new roster pic on the Isles' main site? Not a great one this year. But he's a good guy and I'm sure he'll have a good season, so that's all that matters! Sounds like everyone is pretty DP-obsessed right now, but hopefully Roli isn't worrying about that too much and is looking forward to the start of the season.

On an unrelated note, what do you think about the whole Bulin/Oil goalie situation?

He said his cat(s)disappeared all the time, sometimes for weeks at a time, and they never worried b/c they knew they'd be back. So as long as he keeps coming back for food and I know I'm doing everything I can to make sure he's taken care of, I'll try not to stress too much.

Yeah, I'm definitely considering a humane trap if he's gone for a lot longer. It was interestng though, my mum was talking today to my uncle, who's had a lot of experince with cats, and apparently he was really surprised that I was so worried and upset about him.

Thanks for your note! He still hasn't been back yet, but he came back this morning to eat. I still hate not knowing for sure whether it is in fact him, but I'm just trying to have faith and remember he knows his way back. He hasn't drunk very much from his bowl since he's been gone; is that normal when they've run away, do you know?

Definitely! That's one of the things that is so great about this job, is that not only is it entry-level, but it's also only once a week so I'll be able to still work at LD all the time, which is exactly what I want. Plus it'll also give me a little extra $ for travelling!

I forget if I told you that I have a library technician background (basically, classifying library materials), and I'll be working in a smallish library at an engineering firm. Hey, happy "Nova Scotia Day" (or are you guys just "Civic Holiday"?). Thanks for posting that Roli article from his hometown paper; again nothing surprising or unexpected, but it's always nice to see him have such a positive attitude about everything, and focusing on the team rather than himself.

The OMB seems to have improved a lot; I still like the original board best (minus the Roli-bashing of course! ), but this one seems to be pretty interactive and user-friendly. One thing I like is that for comments it lets you know how much space you have left, unlike this one!

I went back on the OMB today for the first time in ages, and noticed that I now have my "hfv" username back! I found a bunch of my friends on there too, including (hopefully) rockonoil, who was the one who told me the story about Roli I shared on HFBoards a few months ago.
