  1. Guys, I'm simply throwing a scenario out there... it could be Peca, it could be Parrish, it could be both, or it could be neither, that's irrelevant. The point is some team out there will be willing to pick up some of our talent and trade draft picks in return. In the scenario where we trade players for Palffy (who will be a free agent) we are trading players just to dump salary and getting Palffy in return... which we could get as a FA a few days later... it's a horrible plan. We traded Peca for 2 first round picks (Connolly and Pyatt). What I'm suggesting is if we're going to sign Palffy anyway, why not get him as a FA and then get something in return for dumping salary... maybe a first rounder in 2005, maybe a couple of 2nd rounders somehwere in the future... whatever it is... at least get some value for the players we're trading. Not every team in the NHL will be sellers, some team will be buyers (as we were a few years ago) and we have to go at those teams with our salary dumps.... in a fantasy world. There's no sense in dumping salary just for the sake of doing it... we have to get something in return, preferably future draft picks.
  2. Doesn't matter if we trade for him or sign him...either way a bunch of $$$ has to be unloaded to keep the payroll where Wang wants it (does anyone really think he'll add 5,6,7,8 million). So either way, guys like Parrish, Peca, one of the dmen would have to be moved so the result would, in essence, be the same. Not neccesarily. In a dream scenario (which is exactly what this thread is all about) you sign Ziggy and give up nothing but the cash it took to sign him. You then trade Parrish ect... (or whoever) and you get draft picks which will cost the team nothing until they are chossen and signed sometime in the future.
  3. Wouldn't Aucoin be considered our current MVP?
  4. Not a bad deal, certainly fits our needs. The thing I don't like about it is giving up Weinhandl, I think this kid is a player that just hasn't had a chance to get comfortable. Papineau or Weinhandl? I'd give up papi in a second, I see a huge difference in upside between these two.
