  1. Piss-and-moan-piss-and-moan. We don't even know what RD is going to sign for yet, but would you be happier with CuJo or Osgood in net and saving some money this year? That sounds like a great plan for the future. I can see it now, he'll sign a moderately priced short-term deal now (and you'll all be happy), and than when we lose him to FA and he wins the Cup with Boston, you'll say he is overrated anyway and he wouldn't be anything without xyz in front of him, and that our new still-a-few-years-away prospect is going to be better than him.
  2. Every goalie who plays for a bad or marginal team is handicapped by team in front of him. Just suggesting that contrary to some of the conventional wisdom RD is alreaedy better now than some on the board seem to think and that RL hasn't proven as much as some think he has. We're not comparing Al Montoya and Marty Brodeur here.
  3. Geez, do we Isles fans have to piss-and-moan about everything? Would you prefer one of the alternatives? Say, a more moderately talented goalie with less upside for a more moderate price, like a Kevin Weekes? Or perhaps someone more "established" like Curtis Joseph for more money than what DiPietro will cost us? Personally, if the Isles have to overpay a little short term to lock DiPietro up to a reasonably priced long term deal, I would do it in a second and not whine about it. Postscript: and what has Luongo done to prove he is worth much more than DiPietro? He is two years
  4. Well said! Couldn't agree more. And I would add that so far a few-years-younger RD seems to have better leadership qualities, may be a better team-guy, and has a nice emotional aspect to his game that RL doesn't. Intangibles count.

    What To Do?

Not for nothing, but why does that apply to Yashin but not Peca? Hasn't he been around just as long, to the day? Maybe you were just trying to make a point about people calling for Peca's head, but not Yashin's. I don't know. Personally, I've been disappointed with both. Peca, however, is the more movable of the two. Peca is clearly the more movable of the two, though, frankly, his salary and some remaining question marks about his health likely mean that his current trade value is low. Best for NYI to hold on to him, for now. The rosy scenario I envision: he has a stellar seaso
