Each of our 3 top centers, Yashin, Peca and Scatchard was injured or less than 100% for a lot of last year. Injuries are part of the game, but I think all 3 deserve another year on the island. Yashin isn't going anywhere, but Peca and Scatchard would be worth far more at next year's deadline if they play healthy next year. If they recover to 90% of their best, they would be worth keeping. Still think Rolston and/or Nylander would be good pickups if the new CBA allows it.

BTW most goal scorers are streaky. Mark hasn't played with the most offensive minded line for the last 2 years, so in games where Peca-Bates do a lot of penalty killing and/or play vs other team's top line, he gets fewer scoring chances. Hasn't been a defensive liability, either.

Not comparing Mark to Marian as a PLAYER, just saying it's not easy scoring 20 goals anymore. Marian's 5 goals shows you have to be ready to play. Mark has shown he can score 20+ consistently, as well as a willingness to play in traffic. When Hunter and Weinhandl have repeat 20 goal seasons, then you can move Mark.

This is the 2003-4 NHL! Peter Bondra has 17 goals playing with Robert Lang and Jaromir Jagr. Marian Gaborik has 5 goals and 8 assists!!!!! Parrish scores 20-30 goals a year at $2.3M. I think you keep him. PS Obviously. MG is a great player, just indicating that 20 goals is an achievement in today's NHL, and you don't give those players away, even if they are streak scorers. If MG scores 15 goals in next 25 games, is he a streak scorer? People here just don't want to allow the current team to develop its potential. That being said, I wouldn't mind renting Bondra.
